It's the little things that make a movie. We all know how much effort goes into making sure every scene is perfect, and yet sometimes even the most acclaimed films slip up in ways we can't believe! These are some of those moments - mistakes so blatant that you have to wonder how they made it past editing and production teams onto our screens. Whether its continuity errors or just plain goofs, here are 14 mistakes from award-winning films that left us scratching our heads:

The Godfather (1972)

Godfater

Don Corleone's hands magically switch between shots when he holds out his hand to be kissed by Luca Brasi during their meeting at Louis Restaurant in Brooklyn - one moment he has a bandage on his right index finger, then suddenly it appears on his left index finger!

Gladiator(2000)

The face of film character.

Russell Crowe’s character Maximus wears different armor throughout the film despite being portrayed as having only one set of armor with him while traveling through Europe looking for revenge against Commodus – this was probably due to budget restrictions but still stands out as an obvious mistake nonetheless!

Forrest Gump(1994)

Politician, a former candidate for politician, speaks during a rally.

Tom Hanks' character Forrest runs across America multiple times over several years yet never seems to get any older or show any physical changes other than growing longer hair – pretty convenient for a story about aging over time!

The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King(2003)

The castle in the middle of the forest.

Gandalf can be seen riding Shadowfax without stirrups during the battle at Pelennor Fields – not exactly safe horsemanship practices there…

Citizen Kane(1941)

Actor walks down the street in a scene from the film.

Orson Welles’ character Charles Foster Kane is supposed to have been born in 1871 but later scenes show him with what looks like modern day furniture which would not have been available until much later than 1871– oopsie daisy!

The Matrix Reloaded(2003)

The movie that made actor the most famous woman in the history of cinema.

The Matrix Reloaded(2003) features Neo dodging bullets while wearing sunglasses indoors– if you think about it ,it makes no sense since no glasses could ever protect someone from bullet fire!

The Shawshank Redemption(1994)

Actor in a movie poster

During Andy Dufresne’s escape scene at night time you can clearly see sunlight reflecting off his face when he emerges from beneath his cellblock floor into freedom!

Gone With The Wind(1939)

Gone With The Wind(1939)

In this iconic romantic drama set during America’s Civil War era Scarlett O'Hara wears hoop earrings - which weren't invented until 1880s Europe!

Titanic(1997)

Actor as film character and actor as film character in the movie.

When Jack draws Rose in her nude pose he uses charcoal pencil; however those weren't available until 1808 - over 90 years after Titanic sank to its watery grave!

Avatar(2009)

The movie is set to hit cinemas this weekend.

In one scene Jake Sully is seen riding on top of Toruk – an animal native to Pandora – yet he does not appear scared or concerned about falling off despite having never ridden anything before?

The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

The movie is a hit.

In the extended version of the movie, there is a scene in which Legolas can be seen shooting arrows at multiple enemies with only one arrow. It's a bit hard to believe that he was able to fire so many arrows from just one bow!

Chicago(2002)

Chicago(2002)

Renee Zellweger’s character Roxie Hart wears bright red lipstick during her trial scenes despite it being illegal for women to wear makeup in courtrooms during 1920s when this film is set!

No Country For Old Men(2007)

No Country For Old Men poster

During the opening sequence Javier Bardem's character Anton Chigurh can be seen wearing an orange hunting vest - however these weren't invented until after World War II and wouldn't have been available for someone living in 1980 like Chigurh!

Actor and film director on the set of the movie.

Schindler’s List(1993)

In this powerful drama about Nazi Germany we see Oskar Schindler writing out his list of Jews who will work for him – yet if you look closely enough you'll notice that some names are written twice on different parts of paper even though they appear once on official document as shown earlier in film. It seems filmmakers overlooked this continuity error while editing final cut.
